Advanced Open Water

Advanced Open Water means you’ve mastered your dive skills and have experience with different types of diving. This class is the level most boats require and will open up more of the underwater world. after completion you will be certified to conduct dives as deep as 100 feet.

This class has 3 parts:

Classroom: We will review all 5 adventure dives. We will complete Deep, Navigation, and 3 others. Deep and Nav. are required for certification, students will work together and with your instructor to pick the 3 other dives this is a great time to complete that specialty you’ve had your eye on. Combine it with advanced and save time. Contact me for options for combinations.

Pool: After we cover knowledge reviews for the adventure dives we practice skills in the pool. You’ll use all the same gear as you will in the ocean. There is one pool dive we will do in preparation for the ocean. We will practice skills specific to the dives we’ll complete, focusing on buoyancy and trim.

Ocean: the final section of the class are 5 “open water” dives. For these we will be diving in the ocean. Each dive will have a few skills to demonstrate from the pool and will finish with a tour of the dive site. You’ll get a pro’s knowledge and experience of the site and the many plants and sea life you’ll see underwater, this also lets you gain comfort and refine your diving skills in a safe and easy manner. For the second day we will dive off a boat, this will enable us to get to greater depths. No new skill are introduced at the ocean that haven’t been mastered in the pool. At the end of the second ocean day and 5th dive you will go over anything to work on to advance your diving, and will gain your temporary certification card. Your final permanent card will be mailed out, you did it! your a certified Advanced Open Water diver!
